F-16 Mishap News



An RDAF F-16 fighter aircraft assigned to the 445th Flight Test Squadron made an emergency landing on Edward's lakebed runway 23 at approximately 17.15h local time.
A single-seat F-16 fighter jet from the Wisconsin National Guard, crashed on Tuesday while on a routine training mission in central Wisconsin. The pilot ejected safely, according to a National Guard said statement.
A two-seat F-16D fighter jet landed safely at Araxos Air Base in Southern Greece, earlier on Tuesday, using only its rear undercarriage after losing its nose wheel.

UAE F-16 veers off runway at Sigonella

Earlier this morning Dutch F-16 #J-640 from 312 squadron belly landed at Charleroi-Gosselies airport.

Safety chains used at Aviano AB to stop F-16

An F-16C block 40 (#88-0446) experienced problems after landing from a training flight yesterday, Wednesday afternoon at Aviano Air Base, Italy. This prompted the base to use safety chains to bring it to a stop about 30 yards from the base perimeter.
An F-16 based at Aviano dropped two external fuel tanks and an inert missile on an empty field Tuesday night after the pilot declared an in-flight emergency shortly after take-off, according to a 31st Fighter Wing press release.

2 Greek F-16s collide in mid-air

Two Greek F-16s have collided in mid-air off the South Western coast of Crete, near the island of Chryssi on Thursday. One pilot was killed.
An investigation has found that the crash of an F-16 fighter jet during landing at Osan Air Base in February was caused by a mechanical problem in the plane’s landing gear, the Air Force said Thursday morning.

An F-16C from the 125th FS made an emergency landing at Will Rogers Airport, Oklahoma City after declaring an in-flight engine problem which resulted in the pilot jettisoning the two empty external fuel tanks over an unpopulated area near the town of Amber.
