F-16 Mishap News



On Thursday morning (March 3rd, 2005) at 06.30h a Turkish Air Force F-16D from 4 AJÜ went missing over rugged terrain in the North of Turkey. The two pilots aboard are now confirmed to have been killed in this accident.
An F-16 fighter jet landed safely at the Albuquerque Sunport on Wednesday after reportedly getting into some trouble during take off.
A left brake anti-skid malfunction during landing and the pilot's failure to follow an emergency checklist caused an F-16C Fighting Falcon to leave the runway while deployed July 10, according to an accident investigation board report released Feb. 15.
The Air Force says pilot error and a poorly designed aircraft interface caused the F16 pilot to accidentally fire rounds into a New Jersey elementary school.
Air Force officials announced investigation findings of the May 19 F-16 Fighting Falcon crash on the Tohono O'odham Nation in Arizona. The pilot, Singaporean air force 2nd Lt. Kwang Han Loo, was killed in the crash.

Indonesian F-16 jet skids off runway

An F-16 block15 OCU (TS-1601) belonging to the Indonesian Air Force skidded off runway after landing at the Hasanuddin Airport in South Sulawesi province Wednesday morning.
For the third time in less than two weeks an F16 Fighting Falcon was forced to make an emergency landing at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

F-16 "Fly-by shooting" on New Jersey school

An ANG F-16 Viper from the 121st FS/113th FW at Andrews AFB, on a nighttime training mission in New Jersey, accidentally fired 25 rounds of ammunition that tore through an elementary school last night. Luckily, no one got injured.

Dutch F-16 crash lands in Kyrgyzstan

A Dutch F-16 (J-637) damaged part of its undercarriage when it landed in Kyrgyzstan today, forcing the authorities to close its main civilian airport. The accident happened in the afternoon when the jet's nose wheel suddenly collapsed seconds after it landed at Manas civilian airport.

F-16 makes emergency landing at Syracuse

An F-16 Fighting Falcon belonging to the Air National Guard's 174th Fighter Wing made an emergency landing yesterday at Syracuse International Airport. The jet blew two tires while landing but nobody got hurt.
Two Greek F-16 Fighting Falcons, each with a crew of two aboard, disappeared from radar screens yesterday at around 3:00 pm. The planes were on a training flight near Pilio mountain, central Greece.
On 13 September 2004, a RoCAF F-16A Block 20 Fighting Falcon with serial number #6651, made an emergency landing at Chiayi AFB, Republic of China (Taiwan) Air Force.
A pilot's momentary loss of situational awareness caused two F-16 Fighting Falcons to collide May 17 over southwestern Indiana, according to a U.S. Air Force report released on Monday.
The crash of the Singapore Air Force F-16 fighter jet in Arizona on May 18th was solely caused by human factors, an inquiry by the RSAF has found, ruling out negligence or foul play.

Landing gear failed on Danish F-16

At approximately 12.00h yesterday, RDAF F-16BM #ET-204 suffered a mishap at Aalborg AB during the practice of touch-and-gos. The landing gear collapsed and the aircraft came to a halt on its belly with apparently only minor damage.
