F-16 Mishap News



A Bahraini air force F-16C has crashed Saturday evening during a training flight in northern Bahrain. The fate of the pilot is still unknown.

Last Thursday, an ANG F-16 flying too low during an attempt to make a touch-and-go maneuver at Libby Army Airfield clipped power lines along the highway. The jet severed one wire, hurling it into the highway and damaging two passing vehicles.
An F-16C from the Texas Air National Guard's 147th Fighter Wing crashed Monday afternoon in rural western Louisiana. The pilot ejected and was in satisfactory condition at a hospital at the Army's nearby Fort Polk.
Air Force investigators determined an F-16 Fighting Falcon crashed after at least one Spot-billed Duck was ingested into the engine, resulting in catastrophic engine failure, according to a report released Sept. 18.

The Air Force Thunderbirds will not fly this week in Maryland or Kansas, and the Air Force said Tuesday that the demonstration team's schedule for the remainder of the year is in question following a crash Sunday in Idaho.

An Air Force Thunderbird F-16C crashed and exploded during an air show in Mountain Home, Idaho, Sunday afternoon. The pilot managed to eject from the F-16 and was uninjured.

USAF F-16 crashes in South Korea

An American F-16C belonging to the 35th FS crashed during a routine training mission today in South Korea at about 10:05am local time. The pilot ejected safely.
An F-16 Fighting Falcon from Shaw Air Force Base, SC, made an emergency landing at Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport after reporting engine problems. The landing was uneventful and both pilots are OK.

A mechanical problem uncovered in the investigation of an F-16 crash last month near Gila Bend has forced the Air Force to ground an unspecified number of F-16s, including some used in Iraq, Afghanistan, South Korea and Bosnia.
Yesterday, engine trouble forced a US pilot to land his F-16 Fighting Falcon in North Bay - Canada. Lt.-Col. Kurt Tek circled above the city for about 20 minutes before landing the jet at North Bay's airport.

Last Wednesday afternoon a Volkel based F-16 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (KLu) mistakenly dropped a 250lbs dummy practice bomb outside the bombrange at Vliehors Island in the Waddensea (in the Northern part of the Netherlands).
