Turkish F-16 crashed in central Turkey

March 26, 2018 (by F-16.net) - A Turkish F-16 crashed last Thursday in the province of Nevsehir, some 260 kilometers southeast of the capital Ankara, during a training flight.

Unfortunately the pilot was killed in the crash. The emergency servicessent to the area discovered the wreck of the plane, as well as the pilot's body.

The Turkish army’s General Staff said in a statement that the aircraft went down due to unknown reasons during a training flight.

The jet, which took off at 18:30h local time, was on a training flight when the crash occurred, the Turkish Armed Forces said in a statement.

Recently Turkish fighter jets have been conducting airstrikes against PKK targets in the Syrian city of Afrin, within the framework of Ankara's military operation.

Local media reported that TUAF F-16 jets conducted strikes on six targets in Afrin, while the Turkish Armed Forces simultaneously launched artillery shelling from the Kilis province, bordering Syria.
