F-16 serial number #75-0750 has completed a distinguished career as an advanced technology test aircraft for more than 22 years. It is best known for its service as the Advanced Fighter Technology Integration (AFTI)/F-16 technology demonstrator since the early 1980s.

An Air Force F-16 involved in a fatal collision with a small plane was flying too fast and hadn't made contact with air traffic controllers, federal authorities said.

US resumes Japan flight operations

The U.S. Air Force resumed flight operations Thursday at an air base in northern Japan after completing extensive safety checks following a collision of two F-16C fighter jets. Flying operations of the two squadrons of F-16 aircraft at Misawa Air Base resumed after all planes met the requirements of the stringent safety inspection.

Belgian Air Force F-16 shopping list

The Belgian government recently approved the new investment plan regarding the F-16.
An agreement regarding the "no-cost" transfer of 16 surplus F-16A/B fighters to Poland was reached last week.
LMTAS has signed deals worth over $200 million with Israeli firms as part of the offset costs for selling F-16 fighter jets to the IAF.
Lockheed Martin is being awarded an $11.6 million contract to provide for long lead items in support of production of 69 Common Configuration Implementation Program kits for the Modular Mission Computer (MMC) and the Color Multi-Function Display Set (CMFDS) on the F-16 aircraft.
The U.S. Air Force F-16 fleet achieved an excellent safety record during fiscal year 2000, which ended Sept. 30. The USAF F-16 fleet experienced only 2. 63 major mishaps per 100, 000 flight hours.
Lockheed Martin's F-16 power-by-wire technology demonstrator made its maiden flight on 24 October, making it the first aircraft to fly with all-electric flight-control actuation and no mechanical backup.

RSAF acquires F-16C/D

Singapore's Air Force now has more muscle and firepower. The Republic of Singapore Air Force's 143 Squadron now flies 10 state-of-the-art fighter jets - the F-16 Fighter Falcon multi-role fighter.
Lt. Col. Scott Baldwin, 158th FT, Vermont ANG, distinguished himself during a night flight on 23 February 2000.

First IRIS-T launches from F-16

The IRIS-T short-range air to-air missile has successfully completed its first air launches from a F-16. The firing trials were performed on October 17, 20 and 23 from an F-16 of the Hellenic Air Force at the NAMFI range in Crete.
Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company will begin providing electronic technical data to the air forces of all 19 countries using the F-16. This year-long pilot program is expected to provide highly usable and timely information at major cost savings. It will also pave the way for further use of electronic manuals in the F-16 Block 60, F-22 and Joint Strike Fighter programs.
