Raytheon Company has received a $162 million contract for continued production of the AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM).

New Zealand Cancels F-16 Contract

Citing budget constraints and other defense priorities, the government of New Zealand Monday cancelled an agreement to buy 28 F-16s from the United States.
DO Corporation, North Amityville, NY., is being awarded a $5.5 million modification to a firm-fixed-price contract to provide for 85 BRU57 smart bomb racks applicable to the F-16 aircraft.
General Electric Co. said the air force of the United Arab Emirates had selected its F110 fighter engine to power its new fleet of 80 F-16 fighter jets, in a deal worth $400 million to GE.

Thailand, U.S. agree on F-16s deal

The Thai military and the U.S. government have reached an agreement on the formers purchase of 16 used F-16 jet fighters from the latter.
The governments of Greece and the United States signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) today providing for Greece's purchase of 50 new Lockheed Martin F-16 aircraft. The agreement reaffirms Greece's selection of the upgraded F-16 Block 50+ as its new fighter in spring of 1999.
The United Arab Emirates have signed an agreement to buy 80 F-16 fighters and related equipment worth a total of $6.4 billion from Lockheed Martin Corp.
Northrop Grumman Corporation's Electronic Sensors and Systems Sector (ES3) has successfully completed Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) of its LITENING II production pods at the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Test Center in Tucson, Ariz.
The Teal Group expects a Taiwanese F-16 follow-on buy, just as soon as it is politically feasible. A Mirage follow-on buy is possible, too, they say. After these, Taiwan would buy something heavier or possibly an export version F-22 according to them. The latter has an excellent chance, but only if US-China relations deteriorate. Barring that, they'll probably get Rafales.
Elbit Systems Ltd. announced today that it will supply equipment to Lockheed Martin for the Israel Air Force's F-16I, which are to be manufactured by Lockheed Martin under a recently signed contract.

Kuwaiti F-16s?

Kuwait could be interested in purchasing Lockheed Martin F-16 fighter aircraft. LMTAS apparently gave an information briefing to Kuwait and now talks are at a "discussion level. " This comes less than a decade after Kuwait received 40 new F/A-18C/D fighters.

Indonesia Wants To Modify Their F-16s

56th Fighter Wing sets new record

The combined F-16 four-ship (single-seat) formation record was broken in the 63rd Fighter Squadron when four pilots from the 56th Fighter Wing, Luke AFB, flew a surface attack continuation training mission to the Barry Goldwater Range Complex.

Israel buys 50 Block 52s

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $1.34 billion contract to build 50 F-16D fighter jets for Israel by the U.S. Department of Defense. This completes negotiations that began after Israel's July selection of the advanced F-16 as its new fighter and follows a letter of acceptance signed between the two countries in September.
