Greece receives first six F-16s

Greece received the first six of 60 F-16 Block 52+ from the United States at a ceremony in Fort Worth, Texas. The ceremony was attended by Greek Defense Minister Yannos Papantoniou. He said the delivery will be completed over the next year.
Lockheed Martin delivered its Sniper XR (eXtended Range) Advanced Targeting Pod to the U.S. Air Force Wednesday in Orlando.

The Sniper XR is considered the targeting pod of the future. The advanced technology in the pod lets aircrews detect and identify targets at significantly longer ranges, which considerably reduces the time it takes to locate, identify and kill a target.

Pakistani F-16s join Edwards' test forces

Edwards' Test Operations is home to two additional F-16 Falcons slated to become an integral part of supporting flight test programs around the base. The two are the first of nine Falcons making their way to Edwards this year.

Capt. Kevin Roethe of Test Ops and Maj. Jim Less of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School flew the aircraft to Edwards from the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., Jan. 8.
Today, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) commemorated ten years of successful training under the Peace Carvin II (PC II) program in Arizona, United States of America. The celebrations included a parade and a dinner hosted by MG Lim.
The 28 F-16 planes that Pakistan bought in the 1980's from the United States but never received, because the US Congress withheld them to punish Pakistan for secretly developing nuclear weapons , are now being transferred to the United States Navy and Air Force, said the New York Times.

U.S. Moves Toward F-16 Sale To Oman

The United States has launched the bureaucratic process to sell F-16 multi-role fighters to Oman.

The Defense Department has awarded Lockheed Martin a $32.8 million contract to initiate the F-16 sale to the sultanate. Muscat has requested 12 F-16 C/D Block 50 aircraft , manufactured by Lockheed Martin.
Lt. Col. Burt Bartley won the 2002 Joe Bill Dryden Semper Viper Award for his leadership in the rescue of a downed MH-47 helicopter crew during Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan in March 2002.

Scott O'Grady sues over movie

UAE pilots undergo F-16 training

The United States has launched a program to train pilots from the United Arab Emirates on flying 80 advanced F-16 fighter-jets.
Thailand's Korat Air Base received the first five of 16 refurbished Lockheed Martin F-16s on Aug. 17 as part of the country's ongoing efforts to modernize its air force. The delivery marks the activation of the third F-16 squadron for the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF).
The "F-16 Landing Gear Team " was assembled June 19 for the long-awaited testing of it's time-change ship-set gear. The test represents a major milestone for the impending F-16 heavy weight time-change program that is now on target to begin April 2003.
Pratt & Whitney is being awarded a $25,515,000 firm-fixed price contract to provide for overhaul and upgrade of forty each, F100PW200 engines to 38 F100PW220E engines and two each module sets for the Italian Air Force Peace Caesar F-16 program. This effort supports foreign military sales to Italy.
