habu2, I do not have a scanner. The photos would have to be credited to the USAF Combat Camera Team.

I can scan the prints and return them to you if you are comfortable with that. I'll even send you a CD of image scans back with the pics. :)

Just make sure they're hi-res scans, and they're not washed out! ;)

The art next to code 1 candy was ordered removed by Shaw's wing commander when they returned from desert storm. The then TAC commander ordered all tactical aircraft "sterilized" upon return sadly. It was stated then that fighters had no history with nose art unlike their heavy bomber commrads ( I guess they never looked in any aviation histry books!) when the question was raised to the higher brass at the time! If anyone on here is at Misawa and in the 13th FS you need to get a pic of the art Trask left in the front entrance and post it!

Hey, the "death dealer", that is my dad's airplane that you've been looking at. That jet got him in and out of Iraq in one piece.

I would also like to point out the "363rd Desert Storm Deployment" album in the F-16.net photo library:

http://www.f-16.net/f-16_photos_album87.html

It contains many excellent shots of 363rd TFW-deployed nose art. The photographs were supplied by Maj. Steadman.

SSgt Mike Birnie drew several of the nose art drawings for the 17th FS, including "Next" on tail number 223.

Warren Trask is my brother. I'm amazed to see his artwork on the Internet (although I shouldn't be these days). I have a book (I think it's called US AIr Force Nose Art into the 90s) that shows his work during Desert Shield. I have a Polaroid of that Falcon hanging in my office cubicle at work. Warren said he drew that on his Brigadier General's plane in two days with nothing more than his fingers and a couple of grease pencils. By the way, he's never taken an art lesson in his life, he comes by it naturally.

I was with the 363rd TFW deployed to Desert Shield /Desert Storm. I also knew trask he was a very energetic individual ( anyone have an email addy for him ). From what he told me it only took him something like 2-3 hours to complete a drawing. Also note all drawings were done in chalk.

Remember him telling me that code one candies breasts originally were smaller, however being how he had to go back and retouch the drawings he gradually enlarged them. Joked with the pilots that it was due to the high "g" loads.

I also served at the bat cave and no the bat symbol was not done by trask it was drawn by the folks that resided at that location (off hand do not remember the artists name but he was a tsgt assigned to that tab v ). We were known as the bat cave even at the staff meetings.

I now have more 'nose art' pics but have not had the time to scan them and update my page. If and when I do I will post a notice here.

Dear Wea,

my name is Martin and I come from near Hahn AB. I plan to do a documentation on the F-16 days of the 50TFW and wanted to ask whether you might also have all 10th TFS nose art since they were assigned to the 363rd at the time of the war.

Please let me know. I have 4 or so but not all....would like to have em all!

Best, "TAGS"

Anyone know the serial number for this F-16 with Desert Storm art?

Don't think it was on the nose, looks like ventral stab. Most likely 363 TFW "SW" aircraft.

habu2

Thank you very much, had not seen this nose art till it had shown up on the site months ago. After I posted, I wondered if it was nose gear door.

Cheers,
Jon
