Habu, you are right about the location, I agree, it was the blue hangar door in the background that told, TXANG building. You must spend some time in Ft Worth.

Loader, yes I moved to DFW in early/mid 60s, worked on the 'Reservation' for about 5 years in the early 90s, plus lots of time sitting at the fence at Spur 341/White Settlement, and off the north end across the lake... 8) Still have a hard time saying JRB, much less LMTAS - they will always be Carswell and GD to me.

So does anyone know - are those 600 gal tanks in the pictures?

Can anyone provide us with a detailled tail picture of the Greek aircraft?

Bjorn, do you mean one showing the extended tail base and pods etc? I think I have seen a couple in books/magazines I have at home. If this is what you are looking for I can scan what I find.

No, what I mean is a close-up picture of the tail of the aircraft which pictures I uploaded before in this message. This to be able to read the number before the 15XX and under the AF designation.
I'm hopelessly in search of the fiscal year allocation of the aircraft series of the Peace Xenia III program.

Loader,

THANK YOU!!!!! One question though. Can you confirm that with photomaterial. I ask this for the following reason (not that I dont thrust you or something, no). The Greeks ordered the aircraft in August 2000. So pratically speaking, the aircraft cannot have a FY allocation before that date, see.

I'm looking. The Letter of Agreement was signed in March of 2000, but I know what you mean, still not 1999.

CFT (Conformal Feul Tanks). You can learn in the "versions" part o this site about the 52+ and 60 blocks.

thanks I thought it was weird to have things poping out of the aircraft that they had to have some use but shouldn't the greeks use inflight refueling instead wouldn't those bumps on the top of the aircraft increase drag??

I don't think the Hellenic AF has dedicated tankers. They must rely on NATO for tanker support. Besides CFTs are a lot cheaper than KC-135s. Heck even their new Block 52+ F-16s are probably cheaper than KC-135s especially when you factor in spares, support, training, etc.

IIRC the c/n'S for the original order of 50 Block 52+'S by Greece - before the option for 10 more was taken- are:

XK1 ... XK-34
XM-1... XM-16

Ok Bjorn, thanks... I'm new here so I didn't have the chance to look everywhere...
