Actually, I always believed the odds were good for the F-35 in Canada and even Finland. Yet, questionable for somebody like the Swiss. Yet, if they win that. It doesn't look good in future fighter competitions for 4.5 Generation Fighters!

I predict that there will be a mass suicide at BF4C once Saab removes itself from the competition (or otherwise gets eliminated from the Canadian competition). There will be even BF4C members which will try the suicide by having the Gripen E shot the gun at them which will frustrate them even more since the Gripen still doesn't have a gun and otherwise tested and ready to be fielded

Yes, that's true. But if in the end Canada selects the F-35 then not everything it lost in terms of the time and resources wasted
“Active stealth” is what the ignorant nay sayers call EW and pretend like it’s new.
Damn, why didn't this happened exactly 2 weeks earlier??

Two F-35s will arrive in Ottawa on Wednesday
Two F-35A fighter jets will arrive in Ottawa Wednesday. The aircraft will be in the city for the airshow to be held in Gatineau this weekend. The F-35 will not be on static display at the show but it will conduct a flight routine for the show. The aircraft are part of the U.S. Air Force F-35 flight demonstration team.

They wasted money, time, and extensive opportunity to arrive at the same decision if the F-35 is picked anyway. Its of course its not talked about, but contracting opportunities were lost.
we know publicly its "well we have to make our decision"
And everyone in JSF land says "well we have to respect their process to make their decision"
But behind closed doors a lot of people are unhappy that Canada is playing stupid games and will have no problem sharking as many of their contracts as possible.

Sweden's Saab undecided on whether to bid on Canada's fighter-jet contract. This is so stupid now.

There's an old rule among many in the fighter procurement business: "Too Early to Tell, Too Late to Stop".

Welcome to Canadian procurement
they'll put you through hell 3 times and still not make a decision
Can Saab afford to rebid just to withdraw AGAIN?
If the Non American security requirement in the article above is too expensive for Dassault and Airbus then Saab certainly can't afford it

Sure and of course that you're right.
But what I mean is that it could have been much, much worse: Such as the (Canadian) competition still being held but something other than the F-35 being selected.

Using the whole two eyes thingy to explain why they will eventually drop out?
Might be more to do with not being able to meet the requirements and not being able to make the Industrial Benefits numbers work

LM passing would be a potentially big blow by itself because that could be bundled with the termination of the F-35 industry participation agreements.
