F-35 program updates

The cloud-based version of ALIS previously referred to (at least once) as "ALIS Next Gen" is being rebranded as "ODIN"; Operational Data Integrated Network.
I'm sure the main reason for this is to try differentiate this new system from ALIS and problems that have plagued it in the past, but to be fair, ODIN will more or less run a different architecture. Here's hoping they're also going after various other issues that have frustrated maintainers (and that this cloud-based system is sufficiently resilient to situations where there's limited network connectivity).

Based on an evaluation of operational parameters, the Secretary of the Air Force hasidentified the 115 FWinMadison, Wisconsinas the preferred alternativefor the 5thOperational Beddown,and the 187 FWinMontgomery, Alabamaas the preferred alternative for the 6thOperational Beddown.
Both are replacing F-16 sqns.

Difficult to comment as I don't have an inside view. In many organisations, hedging may be performed on an aggregated basis e.g. at the finance ministry level so there could be hedging but just not possible to attribute to a specific project like the Air 6000 because of the aggregation. Also can't discount the possibility of natural hedges i.e. offset against other foreign currency receipts. I don't think individual ministries would have dedicated treasury staff to handle hedging. This would more likely be a finance ministry responsibility so I'd withhold any negative comments without more clarity.
Defence operates on a ‘no win, no loss’ funding basis. Dept, Finance handles the currency aspect, so defence is insured against fluctuations so it never loses out and blows out it’s approved budgets, but it never gets to win either, any “profit” it makes via positive currency fluctuations, get handed back to Treasury...

Burlington ANG has received 14 F-35A (todate), Lots 11& 12.
