I'm one of the 40,000 that the U.S. Air Force let go. Looking for a good paying job anywhere.

I hear that truck drivers get paid 67 cents a mile.
Life is too short for ugly sailboats, fat women and bad beer!

You can always stay Air Force. With the Guard or Reserve. First pick an area of the country you want to live in. Then find the closest ANG or Reserve base. Or possibly an Active base with Reserve or Guard.

If you still have an ID card. Go striaght to the shop where you want to work. Better yet. Pick a different job. If you were a crew Chief. Go the the Avionics shop. Join the unit as a reservist. Have Big Blue send you to Tech school to be retrained. Then go back to the unit. Work man days till you get hired on full time.

No cost to you. And theres a very good chance of getting a Federal Job.

Good Luck

Does it really matter why someone got out? Crazy supervisor. Crazy soon to be ex LBFM wife. Crazy base with a follow on to Cannon. Or in my case all of the above. He got out.

If your looking for a stable job. Go Federal. If your looking for personal happiness. Do something you love. If you want to make big money. Start your own business.

If I had it to do all over agian. I would run away from aviation. Find a good job. Start a business on the side. And then rent an airplane on the weekends.

When they need to downsize they use alot of ways to do it, Be careful going to the hospital, they might just find an excuse to boot you. It happened to me, had a guy poke his eye out closing the lox door, he got to stay in, a year later during a drawdown I got screwed up with double vision by Wilford Hall doc's, it was correctable with glasses but I got the boot. Just remember contract jobs are like a fart in the wind, and airlines come and go. Try to get into something that is needed almost everywhere, I went into automotives, took a year to make good money but now I can say I can get a job in almost every town in the US
