MartyC, <a href="http://www.aztecmodels.com/azt_prin.htm" rel="nofollow">Aztec Model</a> has the <a href="http://www.aztecmodels.com/Vipers/promo_vipers1.JPG" rel="nofollow">decal</a>. Habu has a beautiful <a href="http://aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal3/2901-3000/Gal2929_F-16_PerezVertti/gal2929.htm" rel="nofollow">project</a>]. The colour/weathering was tricky but he has rolled out a remarkable FAV Viper. (<a href="http://www.arcforums.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19524&hl=venezuelan&st=0" rel="nofollow">in-progress</a>). Do drop him a mail.

Have fun,
Desmond

Great stuff thanks guys... whats the quality of the Aztec decals like??? reason I ask is that I would like to be able to scan the 1/48 size decal sheet and enlarge to 1/6 scale and reprint onto Micro Mark decal paper to make my own large decals for an R/C turbine powered F-16 I want to repaint soon...hence my question about quality ie resoloution...
I recently finished a 1/8 scale R/C CF-18 using scanned and enlarged Leading Edge CF-18 decals, well actually I really only used the nomenclature, roundels squadron emblems and 'Hornet' tail art on the CF-18 (see pic) rest was sprayed and airbrush by myself. Heres a link to more on my 1/8 scale turbine powered CF-18 project and decal making-

home made decals-

The F-16 I want to repaint as 0220 is pictured below in current US scheme...
I mainly would like to use the dragon decal and text art work on tail, maybe Venezuelan roundels etc. rest I would spray/airbrush myself.

Anyone with feed back on viability of enlarging Aztec decals and their quality would be much appreciated :D

Resize from 1/48 to 1/6......BAAAAAAD idea!
I dunno if you've ever done that before, but going from small to big for decals just doesn't work because of the loss of resolution. You'll be much better off recreating the tailart yourself. The quality of the 1/48 decals is superb, but for 1/48. Going up 800% won't work too well.

Actually depends on quality of decals I find.... I resized the Leading Edge decal sheets for the CF-18 above. The tail art ie 'Hornet' is resized from 1/48 decal sheet. I touched it up a little using Adobe Photoshop on my Mac and it works pretty well. Some decal brands are no good for this but if high resolution they are quite doable :D

Heres how I do it - http://www.TJT.bz/board/viewtopic.php?t=79

By the way I tried emailing Aztec two days ago to ask about ordering the decal set for 0220 and so far no reply? :(
can anyone suggest where I can source these Aztec decals???? any advice would be much appreciated as I want to start on my F-16... I am test flying the FA-18 tommorrow :crazypilot:

Cheers-

Marty, try www.flightdecs.ca for the Aztec decals. You don't have to email Aztec though, you can buy right online. I have before and had no problems.

Hmmmm...I guess you could do the resizing with some touch up, but I'm just not satisfied with that. I mean do whatever works for you, of course. But I'm a CAD guy, I'd rather have a vector version I can make into any size I desire.

Funny you should mention Flight Decs, as I just spoke with Joe at Flight Decs yesterday and he is sending me a set of 1/48 Aztec decals for 0220.... talk about rare as hens teeth! I was pretty lucky to find these I think! Thanks Joe....

Re- scanned resolution, Iam sure there are better ways than the method I use but its effective and satisfys me, and Iam pretty fussy and if it looks like air brush finish that will do just fine for me  certainly does save a lot of masking and painting time.
I plan on using my scanned, enlarged and printed method with the Aztec F-16 1/48 decals so I will post some photos of the results here within the next couple of weeks...

Cheers

This is one of the best models .That rc jet model really shows the amount of time you spent on making and turned this to be a beautiful model. That is closer to the real thing than any of the other models .
