Anyone else flying 175 gallon tanks?
Nevertheless ... nothing compared to that BP disaster

I wasn't aware they had a 175 gallon tank option. GlobalSecurity lists just 370 and 600. Or is this just another case of the Press getting it stunningly wrong?
Why does "monosyllabic" have 5 syllables?

I’m assuming 175 gallons x2 is the calculated fuel remaining in the 370’s when he punched them off.
If I’m not mistaken … 175 sounds like the center capacity of the 370?

Since the story didn't say it happened during or shortly after take-off but on a training mission, more than likely the tanks were essentially empty. I was always told, don't know for sure, that an F-16 burns through most of the tanks with an AB take-off.

Lots of unknowns with this story.
Most of the Critical Action Procedures for the F-16 to jettison external stores are on takeoff.
If he was returning from a mission the 370’s would have been empty(maybe he got some Tanker action), and unless the engine wasn’t producing sufficient thrust to maintain level flight, maybe he/she shouldn’t have popped them off?
You have to admire the guys and gals flying single engine fighters!

Well, after takeoff, you have an oil system malfunction, amongst others. But I would imagine you wouldn't have to get too far into to the amongst others for this one.
