Seems like a good idea for the ground guys to carry IFF in the future.
Train like you fight kind of thing you know.

There was some details that were left out. Did they have extended coverage on the SUV rental? Did they get their deposit back from Avis? Did Al Gore designate the target? Will this strategy slow global warming? …… ;)

"Yes Mr. JTAC would you like the extra insurance"

"No ma'am we're just gonna go bombin around"

"Ok well you still have the roadside assistance and just fill the tank up to where it was when you recieved the vehicle. Have a safe drive."

Well I guess it was a good thing they pilot knew how to shoot, otherwise this story would not be funny.
I still don't understand why they did not have IFF.

"The soldiers were part of a Joint Terminal Attack Control unit from Fort Lewis, Wash., training to identify enemy targets and direct U.S. aircraft to fire on them." ......... Sounds like they need to go back to school and learn how to direct aircraft on to enemy targets and not themselves. I wonder if the "minor injuries" they sustained also included a biological emergency known as crapping your pants!!!!

Evaluator Pilot: "Well, LT, I have some great news."

Student: "I passed my checkride?"

EP: "No, I just saved a load of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico!"
