My maintenane career began in 1979 at Homestead AFB, FL. I was first assigned to the 306TFTS, --aircraft of choice 'F4D'. In 1983 I received an assignment to the 86TFW at Ramstein AB, Germany. Was a great assignment, was there for the conversion from F4E to the F16. Worked in the 86TFW/MAT and helped the F16 cadre team beddown the new falcons. Was later assigned to Luke...got my first Falcon. Current or Favourite assignmentMy first F16 was a B model 78-0096. It was a great jet, very reliable. It flew a great deal of code 1 missions, and the Pratt and Whitney powerplant hardly ever came out. The thing that made the 311 AMU so cool was that it had a hand in supporting the foreign training mission. It was not uncommon to help a Danish pilot strapin one day and a Thai pilot the next. Just an all around good time. Top fit.DeploymentsWhile at Homestead deployed to Griffis AFB, NY., where we flew our Phantoms against the old F106 Delta darts. Both jets belong to history now. |

Other aircraft/assignments | Had the 'groote plezier' to work in the 311 squadron at Volkel Air Base, Netherlands. Worked as a contract maintainer for the Royal Netherlands Air Force from 2000 till 2002. Can say without a doubt that their system was the best I've ever seen. A true pleasure. |
