Philip F. Oestricher was the first pilot to fly the YF-16. This occurred on 20 January 1974 during hi-speed taxi trials. He was a civilian employee of General Dynamics at the time. His military background was as a Naval Aviator in the Marine Corps. Immediately before flying the YF-16 he was an F-8H pilot in the Marine Air Reserves. | ||
