A missile fell off a NATO plane participating in air raids against Yugoslavia and exploded in Macedonia on Sunday. NATO sources said the rocket was a HARM air-to-surface missile and that it fell off an F-16 jet.
Earlier, the local KIS television station said missile parts at been found at Bence, 30 km (19 miles) southwest of the capital Skopje, after a huge explosion had been heard on Sunday over much of western and central Macedonia.
The AGM-88 high-speed antiradiation missile went off next to a stable and gouged a three-meter deep hole in the ground, one resident told the station's reporter. There were no reports of any injuries or significant damage.
