RSAF F-16 crashes at Tengah Air Base
On 8 May 2024, at 12.35h, a Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) F-16 experienced an issue during take-off. The pilot safely ejected and the plane crashed thereafter within the confines of Tengah Air Base.

Modified as F-16/79 with a General Electric J-79 engine. This engine was tested as a low-cost and lower-thrust alternative for non-NATO allies. The project never materialised because the standard Pratt & Whitney F-100 engine was made available to all who could pay for it under the Reagan Administration.

Callsign of the day

Callsign "HotDog"

It was what I came up with when told to submit a callsign during the IP upgrade class (F-100) at Luke in 1963. The Germans thought this callsign quite amusing when I later switched over to the F-104G training program.
