    I worked at Miramar on the TOPGUN and VF126 aircraft for 9 years. It was sad to see them go but I'm glad that the Navy decided to bring them back up in Fallon. I hear some of my ol' maintenance chums are still in Fallon.

    By the way the aircraft pictured here crashed somewhere in Idaho killing the VF126 pilot. The Navy brought the plane back in pieces for the investigation, pretty sad but interesting to see.

    Who is Scott Van Aken and how did he get access to have these pictures taken?
    Just curious.

    F-16N #163568 Crash

    LCDR James E. 'JIMBO' Boyle died as the result of this F-16N #163568 crashing on Dec. 17th, 1992 in Twin Falls, Idaho.

    A 16-year Navy veteran, he flew more than 3,600 flight hours and made 608 landings on five aircraft carriers. Among the carriers he served on were the USS Kitty Hawk, USS Enterprise and USS Midway.

    During the Persian Gulf War, he flew 15 strike and eight direct combat-support missions while accumulating 71 combat hours. He was decorated three times for heroic and meritorious achievement in combat.

    R.I.P. Good Buddy.
