Behind the Scenes
This paint scheme was brought to life by the great design/layout of then MSgt Kenny Mitchell (later Command CMSgt/4AF), MSgt Joe Fincke - the crew chief on 291, SSgt Ron Medvetz - the asst crew chief and the artistry of the entire paint crew of the 944th Maintenance Squadron's Fabrication Branch. Commander of the 302nd Fighter Squadron at the time of the original dedication was Lt Col Roger Binder (later Maj Gen Binder, MA to COMACC). -

And now the rest of the story. It was Captain T. Glen Davis 302 Maintenance Squadron Commander (presently Colonel JCS who took the ideas and information, then prepared an awesome package that was approved by the Vice Chief of the Air Force and authorized this tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen. As in all military operations Leadership is key and teamwork is essential. Thanks to all who serve and dedicate their lives to freedom.
