This beauty was transferred from the 56 FW in the spring of 1992 as this unit stood down at MacDill AFB, FL.
Several other "Big Inlet" Block-30s were transferred from MacDill as well as Torrejon as the plan was to re-equip the two 86 FW squadrons - the 512 FS and the 526 FS - with only "Big Inlet" Block-30 F-16C/Ds, having flown "Small Inlet" Block-30s from 1987 onwards. But due to cut-backs in the USAFE, this change was never completed and the Ramstein Wing flew a mix of these two Block-30 versions until it began receiving Block-40s in the end of 1993. At the same time they transferred to Aviano AB Italy, changing Wing and Squadron numbers and completing the re-equipment with Block-40s.
