Royal Danish AF F-16A's are fitted with the PIDS (Pylon Integrated Dispenser System) on outer pylons. Logically, cartridges are fired outwards only. [F-16.net photo]

In The RNoAF the PIDS is used at station 3 and the WW pylon ALQ is at station 7. Someone who know why, because the flares would be fired inwards... -

It`s Correct that the RNoAF have the Pids on sta.3 It`s possibel to take out the dispenser assys and change what way you want to fire it. They also only use chaff in the pids. It`s also no problem to fire it into the aircraft, it does not make any damage.
On sta. 7 they use a Ecips with a A-A ALQ, ALQ 162.
