Piaggio Aero to produce parts of F-35 engine

November 9, 2004 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Pratt & Whitney awarded the production of a crucial part of the F135 engine, which will equip the F-35 JSF, to Piaggio Aero. The agreement is part of the System Development and Demonstration programme.
The two contracts, worth in total around 150 million USD were assigned after a 6 month selection. This contract is very important for Piaggio Aero and is to them a reassuring step into the future.

Piaggio Aero Industries is an aircraft manufacturing company born from the former Rinaldo Piaggio SPA, an Italian company. The company is one of the world's oldest airplane manufacturers, and its planes have been well known from early days of aviaton history.

Piaggio Aero is one of the most established italian companies, composed of two operating units, based in Liguria, Italy, and it has on payroll 1450 skilled employees.
