Turkish F-16s hit Kurd rebel camps in Iraq

Turkish F-16s have destroyed 10 camps used by separatist Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq in a cross-border incursion this week, state-run Anatolian news agency reported.
The aircraft took off from the southeastern province of Malatya and attacked camps near the Iraqi border with Turkey. Witnesses in Diyarbakir said four (military sources say three) F-16 fighter-bombers took off from the local airport on Friday morning.
It was not clear where they were heading. Around 15, 000 Turkish troops supported by armored units and air power launched an operation this week against Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) rebels.
The PKK uses bases in northern Iraq to attack southeast Turkey, where it is seeking self-rule.
