Indus Viper 2008 exercise started

April 21, 2008 (by Asif Shamim) - Pakistani & Turkish F-16s are conducting a joint exercise named 'Indus Viper 2008' which began April 21st lasting for 10 days according to a press release from the PAF.

The exercise being held at PAF Base Mushaf in Sargodha saw the arrival of five TUAF F-16 C/D aircraft and 50 personnel from 191 Filo.

"The exercise will benefit both participants, hone their professional skills and further enhance existing relations between the two nations and their Air Forces," the statement said.

Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (operations) Air Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said the event marked the beginning of a new era with the air forces of the two countries. He said the TuAF had always lived up to its esteemed traditions and earned a well-deserved name in the ranks of modern air forces.

The statement said the Pakistan and Turkey had a long history of military cooperation and had been successfully conducting joint exercises for many decades.
