Eight Belgian 2W F-16s deploy to Cambrai for night flight training
April 25, 2007 (by
Lieven Dewitte) -
Eight 2nd Wing F-16 fighters deploy for three weeks (between April 18th and May 4th) to the Épinoy Air Base, Cambrai in France to perform night training flights.
During the Florennes air base main runway renewal works, which last until October 2007, the 2nd Wing F-16s will operate from a parallel runway. Because of safety reasons, this smaller runway will only be available for day time operations, hence the deployment to Cambrai.
Despite previous expectations the 2 Wing fighters won't be relocated at Beauvechain during the work at Florennes. This in order to avoid noise nuisance in this heavily populated area of Brabant.
