Kunsan Falcons deploy to Singapore

September 24, 1998 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Six Kunsan F-16s deployed to Peya Lebar Republic of Singapore Air Force Base, Singapore, last month in support of Commando Sling, an ongoing cooperative effort of air combat training between the U.S. and Republic of Singapore Air Forces.
Kunsan pilots practiced their air combat skills against Singapore airforce pilots off the East Coast of Singapore over the South China Sea. Commando Sling is a year-round Air Force wide program that allows both militaries to hone their air combat skills in near real-world scenarios.

The U.S. Air Force rotates squadrons for three-week periods. The Singapore air force, flying F-5s, F-15s and A-4s, hosts U.S. aviators flying a variety of aircraft, mostly F-15s, F-16s and MarineF-18s. Training is conducted using various scenarios pitting predetermined combinations of aircraft against each other in an air-to-air battle.
