Final assembly of the first YF-22 prototype begins in California. Unveiled to the public at the Lockheed Martin plant 10, California on August 28, 1990. Flew for the first time on September 29, 1990 with Dave Ferguson as the pilot.

Taken apart and flown to Marietta, Georgia aboard a C-5. This YF-22 was grounded and used primarily as an engineering mockup.

While being delivered to the USAF Museum, the aircraft made a stop at the Nellis AFB, Nevada air show running from April 24th to the 27th, 1997 wearing a fake FY number 86-022. Arrived at museum and restored for display by March 1998.

Still at the USAF Museum but moved to the Research & Development hanger.
02 Sep 2009 [i/a] N22YF YF-22
Arrived in parts at Edwards AFB on September 2, 2009 on board a C-5 Galaxy. Aircraft was stripped down, rebuilt, primed and painted to get ready for display.
