Aircraft crashed while returning from a training mission in a remote part of Nevada. The pilot who ejected safely was rescued by a Las Vegas Police helicopter. The aircraft was from Shaw AFB? Need to confirm.

Pilot was scott l gierat

Aircraft was from shaw, but at nellis for air warrior exercise.

Pilot detected smoke in the cockpit, along with a decreasing oil pressure. When oil pressure reached 5 PSI, the mishap pilot heard a loud bang accompanied with a grinding noise. Shortly thereafter pilot noted engine RPM was at 0.

Pilot attempted a JFS airstart which was unsuccessful.

At 3000' AGL the pilot ejected.

Crash site is approximately 20 miles SE of pahrump, NV, near the CA state line.
