First Belgian F-16s to be delivered to Jordan
September 5, 2008 (by
Bjorn Claes) -
The first four of a total batch of sixteen F-16 fighters are to be delivered to Jordan next Wednesday leaving from Kleine Brogel airbase in the early morning.
Next Wednesday, September 10th, the first four of a total of sixteen F-16 fighters will be transfered to the Royal Jordanian Air Force. The deal was signed in April of 2006 and originally compromised 14 F-16s from Belgium and 8 F-16s from the Netherlands. It now seems that another two B-models are transfered from the Belgian inventory.
Jordanian pilots and ground crew have been training with the Belgian Air Force F-16 OCU unit for some time now. All 10 pilots have been retrained and are ready to make the first transfer flights to Moualak Salti AFB, about 90 miles east of the capital Amman.
