Turkish provocation over the Aegean

Over 15 Turkish fighter jets have reportedly violated the Athens FIR (Flight Information Regions) this morning in the north and south Aegean, when Greek Minister of Defense Spilios Spiliotopoulos was on board of an F-16 fighter jet flying over the northeastern Aegean island of Limnos.

Parts from two jets - one Navy and one Air Force - were joined together through the ingenuity of the 649th Combat Logistics Support Squadron and Ogden ALC engineers. The front-end fuselage of a Navy combat trainer F-16C was fitted on to an Air Force F-16C here April 14.

Egypt has received approval from the Bush administration to support U.S.-origin advanced navigation air pods for Cairo's F-16 fleet. The U.S. Defense Department has awarded Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control a $9.5 million contract to upgrade equipment for the LANTIRN system.
