I started my Crew Chief career in SAC on the last FB-111 made stationed at Plattsburg AFB NY. My second duty station took me to the 57th FIS in Keflavik Iceland on the F4-E which was a great 2 years. I had longed to work on the new F-16 and loved to ski so Hill AFB UT was my next location where I started with the F-16 and from there I went to Hahn AB GE to the 10th FS. I deployed to the Gulf with the 10th where my F-16 was shot down the last day of the Gulf war. I returned and moved to Spangalhem when Hahn was drawn down and from there to my last duty assignment with the 310th FS at Luke AFB AZ.

Current or Favourite assignment

I loved being assigned in germany and traveled all over Europe with my family. Both Hahn and spanghalem porduced great memories. I workked hard and played hard by downihill ski racing for USAFE and dove a race car at Spang Speedway.

Deployments

I was deployed from Hill to Turkey where we were doing a diplomatic role where I first had a mishap with the F-16. We had just installed an engine on a Phase inspection and were doing our test run when the 7th stage blade exited through the skin destroying the aircraft. I was deployed to Turkey and Spain from Hahn as well. I was deployed with Hahn during the first Gulf war, desert storm and it was there my F-16 84-1390 was shot down over Iraq

What do I remember about Tim Littlefield? Well during the First Gulf War, Tim pinched Bob Self's leg between a pintle hook on a coleman and a tow bar. If it had not been for Jim Snyder being emt qualified. Bob would have bled to death. I saw Bob Self at Kunsan in 1995. He had a very bad limp.I realize that it was an accident. i know Tim Felt bad about it.

I was a member of and part of the Board of Directors for the Spang Speedway Association. Car #3 in 1600 Air Cooled Class, and later Super Modified. The 9 years that I raced at Spang were the most fun I had ever. If you have any photos of the Speedway, or the cars please let me know.

Code 3 Ninety
Mike Babski, CMSgt (ret), Sep 27, 2013 - 08:25 AM

I remember 390 as old Code 3 Ninety, because before Tim started crewing it the aircraft was the leader for having the most code 3 landings (alway broke on landing)

Parts of the Acft are now a part of my man cave, the only one I know with a full tail hook hanging up. Also have a good collection of photos from Spang Raceway if anyone is looking. Please contact me
