My first F-16 assignment was at Ramstein AB, with the 86 TFW, 526 TFS "Black Nights". Germany was an excellent first assignment for any young airman just starting his Air Force career.

Current or Favourite assignment

I have many fond memories of the great organization that opened my eyes to the real Air Force and what it had to offer me over the next two decades. I was the ADCC for 85-1434, which was assigned to the USAFE CINC General Bill Kirk. Having a four star fly your bird on a regual basis was an experience in cleanliness and working long hours. I can still hear my DCC telling me to "use more simple green on that gear boy" oh the good ol' days.....

Deployments

Rathar than specific deployments (there were many) I'd rathar state some of the countries we went TDY too while I was assigned to F-16's:

Spain
Turkey
Italy

My Jets & Assignments

85434 [Detailed history of this F-16]
Unit 526th Fighter Squadron "Black Knights" [Unit History]
Period 1986 - 1989
Current: QF-045   USAF 82 ATRS QF-16C Block 30 [ act]
I have two interesting facts. First it was assigned to the USAFE CINC (General Bill Kirk) who logged over 230 hours in this particular bird. Second, 434 was a very special block 30 acft which was "treaked" per say by General Dynamics and subsequently designated as a high utilization fighter.
Other aircraft/assignments Due to rivet workforce and force balancing in the early 1990's, over 400+ fighter crew chiefs were randomly forced to cross train into strat airlift MDS's. Yeh, I was bummed out after that move but went on to work the second of five aircraft in my USAF career. I enjoyed crewing F-16's the most.

526 AMU

We may have crewed together as ADCCs in the 526 AMU. MSgt Larry Allen was flight chief in 1987. I crewed 85-1517 before it crashed, then 85-1410 until 1989.

Hey Stranger:)

Mr. Goetze-

I believe you were a friend of my fathers, Ret. Col. james gallagher. Our family use to live in the old Gasthouse/ now bistro in Neidermohr. From the 80's to 1990.

My brother Kyle is in Geographical Information Systems. He just got back from Germany. He talked to Gertrude while he was there and was wanting to get a bite to eat with you, but wasn't able to. He'll be back next month so hopefully you two can get together then. Well I am off.

Take Care,

Kimberly
