388TFW, Hill AFB, UT. After three years there I cross trained out of aircraft mechanics in 1982 into radio maintenance, an attempt to get out of TAC which didn't work. Separated from USAF in 1990.DeploymentsBright Star '82. Cairo Egypt. I was on the advanced support team, we were sent ahead to meet the aircraft, 4 A and 4 B models, to Langley, VA where they parked over night before the hop across the pond, while the rest of the support group made their trip to Cairo to prepare for the A/Cs arrival. After the initial 2 weeks the A models went home. The B models remained under classified orders. During that time there were not enough pilots to fly 4 sorties a day, so they were giving incentive flights, they had to have a body in the back seat. Just days before my return stateside I was given a ride in my A/C. That was the one and only deployment made during my time with the F16. |

Originally trained to crew F4s so I would have a 5 level upon arrival. Those were on the way out and I did not work on them. Shortly after arriving at Hill AFB I was put into F16 training. |
