Errors and Omissions
Search Light Mod
While at Edwards AFB assigned to the 416 FLTS / 912 AMU, a three-cell mag light was sat on the right external wing tank center fuel cap during the leading edge flap asymmetry brake install, rig and ops check. When the leading edge flap dropped to 26 degrees down, it pushed the end of the flashlight clean through the lef and affectionately became known as the "Search Light Mod".
It's interesting to note that the flashlight only suffered minor cosmetic scratches, but still operated just fine. The tool room kept it in service and issued it for maintenance for many years after this incident.
