The aircraft crashed on a routine training sortie out of Aviano AB in the early evening near the mountains of Belluno. The pilot, Maj. Timothy Palmer, ejected safely.
Named the aircraft "Flyinhawg"
Aircraft was the first jet to drop bombs on Serbs in Bosnia during Operation Deliberate Force.
Aircraft was also flown by Capt Hanford when he found Capt Scott O'Grady. An 8 hour sortie and came back Code 1.
The best jet I have ever crewed!
When I first got here this jet was at SABCA gettin a new paint job and other crap done to it. When it came back it was a good jet, lost count of the code-1's it tallied up while I was on it.
