Col. Jim "Pizza" Fiorelli was with the Arizona ANGs 162nd FW. He died on March 9th, 1994. At the time, he was the Board President of the Safety Investigation Board for F-16A 80-0486 of the 148 FS that crashed on February 28th near Duncan, Arizona. The crash site is about 5nm south of the town of Duncan atop a high mountain peak. Col Fiorelli suffered a heart attack while climbing the mountain with his team to the crash site, was medevaced by helicopter, and later died. A cross is located at the crash site and marked in dedication to Col Fiorelli as well as 2Lt Julian Beneker, RNlLAF, who was killed in the crash. | ||
