Viper Driver Flying Hours
Capt. George D. Cansler
"Laufer"., Jun 16, 2019 - 09:31 AM
Vance AFB, Class, 80-02. He had been an F-4 WSO, and graduated #1, True "Golden Hands"= Golden Brain.
Several years later, around '87 (?) a classmate told me that George had been in a fatal accident while flying a rental Cessna in Montana, scouting out some hunting land.
This is all that they the guy knew about it.
A fighter pilot who later was based at Hill AFB stated via a pm on "Pprune.org" the same basic thing.
If this is true, my very late condolences to his family.
Naturally I'm curious about what Actually happened.

He was my uncle. My father and he were in Montana scouting hunting elk. George in back seat, my father Clyde and a guide (name I do not know) flying a Cessna.
I was 10 years old I remember the night like it was yesterday. Knock on door late at night.
I was told the Deicer in the carb failed. Possibly trying to switch seats in plane to get George on the controls but too late. In the mtns and didnt have a place to land.
If anyone has any pictures or anything to share with me about George Cansler that would be very much appreciated
