At 8:34 a.m. on Nov. 6, 2014, Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Matthew J. LaCourse crashed his F-16C into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. LaCourse, 58, did not eject and he did not survive the impact.

Col LaCourse was my Squadron commander at the 82 ATRS. He was a great commander and overall a good guy to be with. His wife a mean rum cake. God bless him and his family
