A Great Day To Fly!
Col (Ret) Paul "Sticky" Strickland, Jan 19, 2007 - 10:24 PM

Jorma, a find young man- sharp young fighter pilot. I flew at Hill AFB in the 4th FS with Jorma, who everytime he stepped to the jet told the crew chief:"It's a great day to fly!!" As a Southwest Airline pilot, and Slot for the Patriots Demo Team, each time I fly, or announce to passengers, I convey in memory of Jorma; "It's always...a GREAT day to fly!"

Thank you Jorma for your service and for your sacrifice. Your fiance, Tracy, spoke nothing but loving, good thoughts about you. I know you are missed by all of your family and friends. God bless and God speed!

Hooch flew my line the day he died as I was on leave. I will never forget October 25th. Jorma and I went through IFF,RTU, and MQT together. I had no better friend than him. My family and I miss him dearly.

I always think of the day we lost you Sir. I still remember it like it was yesterday when you were getting ready to step to your AC. I know we did our jobs. But it wasn't enough, Sir. I'm sure you would have been a great leader. Cheers Lt...drinks are on me.

Rembering an old friend

I was looking through some old files today and ran across Jorm's obituaries and another friend's as well. Jorm is still very much missed and a part of my life. His influence on my life growing up with as a kid and then seeing him achieve his dreams of becoming a fighter pilot are immeasurable. I feel so fortunate to have known him, and wish dearly that he was still with us today.

I made a promise to him the last time I saw him, a few weeks before he passed, when he made the time to come all the way to visit me and my new family. I've been able to keep that promise Jorm, it has made me a better father, son, and person all these years, I can't thank you enough!

My best friend

He was the big brother that I never had. Always looked out for me. He was unforgettable. The funniest person that I have ever met. Knew him at USAFA since 1997. Spoke to him 3 days before he died. Was supposed to visit him in Utah the following week. He died doing what he loved. If there was anyone who could have survived the high altitude, high speed ejection, it was him after his 1000+ jumps on The Wings of Blue. Got to his grave every year at Arlington. He was my best friend.
