First Danish F-35 handed over
April 7, 2021 (by
Bjorn Claes) -
Today the first Danish F-35 (#L-001) was handed over to the Danish Flyvevåbnet in a ceremony at Lockheed. This marks the formal start of the Danish F-35 program albeit the jet was already flying in January conducting numerous rigorous tests at NAS Fort Worth.

This jet is the first of a total of 27 F-35s the Danish military has ordered. Denmark is a signatory of the original F-35 partnership with a level 2 comitment. This also means the Danish industries with companies like Terma are able to participate in the program.
The first Danish jets will be flown to Luke AB where their first batch of pilots and maintainers will be trained to fly and operate the F-35. The first jet to arrive at Skrydstrup AB is foreseen in 2023 with all jets being delivered by 2027.
