Danish firm teams with Lockheed Martin for F-35 test pods

June 20, 2004 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Terma A/S of Lystrup, Denmark, and Lockheed Martin have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for cooperation in the design, development, integration, testing and production of test pods for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
The signing ceremony was completed on Monday, July 19, during the Farnborough International Air Show.

Under the MoU, Terma and Lockheed Martin will team for the design and manufacture of test pods for the System Development and Demonstration (SDD) phase of the JSF program. The pods will be used for data acquisition, recording and telemetry during flight testing of all F-35 variants. In addition to the test pods, Terma will manufacture equipment and nose-boom installations for the test program.

"Terma is a proven developer of reconnaissance pods and aeronautic structures for high-performance military aircraft," said Tom Burbage, Lockheed Martin executive vice president and general manager of the F-35 JSF program. "Terma has demonstrated technical capability, quality and manufacturing proficiency for many aircraft programs, including Lockheed Martin's own F-16 Fighting Falcon."
