F-22 Raptors to deploy to RAAF Base Tindal

At the direction of Adm. Harry Harris Jr., U.S. PACAF commander, Pacific Air Forces will send 12 F-22 Raptor aircraft and approximately 190 Airmen to RAAF Base Tindal in early February to conduct combined exercises and training missions with the Royal Australian Air Forces as part of the Enhanced Air Cooperation Initiative under the Force Posture Agreement between the United States and Australia.

Maj. Chad Newkirk, a Reserve F-22 pilot assigned to the 477th Fighter Group, is the eleventh pilot in Air Force history and fourth pilot in the 477th FG to reach 1,000 flight hours in the F-22 during a sortie in April.
