Inadvertent Jettison of an F-16D Canopy

January 20, 2004 (by MrFalconFixer) - On January 16 the 62FS at Luke AFB, AZ experienced the inadvertent jettison of an F-16D canopy. The aircraft involved was #83-1184, block 25D.

USAF F-16D 83-1184 damage after ground crew member accidentally pulled the wrong handle causing canopy to jettison. Amazingly the canopy came down and was split by the aircraft tail.

The canopy contacted the vertical tail during the event, but there were no injuries to ground personnel. No other details are available at this time.
