August 6, 2003 (by Stefaan Vanhastel) - The United States Aior Forces in Europe's 16th Air Force celebrates 20 years of F-16 operations this summer. An F-16C from Aviano wears special tail markings to commemorate the occasion.

The special color scheme consists of 20 stars to celebrate 20 years of F-16 with the 16th Air Force.

The 16th AF first became operational on the F-16 in 1983, when its 401st Tactical Fighter Wing (now disbanded) converted to the F-16.
