Danish F-16A crashes - pilot safe

April 3, 2001 (by Lieven Dewitte) - On Monday April 2nd an F-16A (#78-0178) from the RDAF crashed while doing ACM with three other F-16's. They all belonged to Skrydstrup AFB. The pilot, 36 years old Captain Allan O. Jensen, ejected safely and was taken to Aalborg AFB hospital in good condition.

The crash occured 45km of the Danish westcoast near the town of Thyborã¸n.

Today the investigating board announced that the aircraft went out of control after hard maneuvering. The pilot ejected at approx. 6,000 ft after trying to regain control. The aircraft was not brought up to the MLU-standard yet.
