Elbit wins LMTAS contract

October 11, 1997 (by Lieven Dewitte) - The U.S. subsidiary of Israel's Elbit Systems Ltd. has been awarded a contract to develop a data entry electronics system for the F-16 fighter jet. The order, won by Elbit's wholly-owned EFW Inc subsidiary, is expected to be worth $8 million.
The subsidiary, based in Fort Worth, Texas, will develop the unit for the plane and could lead to a production contract. Elbit, which manufactures defense electronics, said its EFW unit had also won a $15 million contract for electronic sub-systems from Rafael, the Israeli government's arms development authority.
