Greece requests FMS order for F-16 parts
April 1, 2011 (by
Lieven Dewitte) -
The Greek government has requested a Foreign Military Sales order to provide funds for F-16 spare parts and other equipment.
The funds for the blanket order requisitions FMSO II would come under the Cooperative Logistics Supply Support Agreement, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency said.
The cost of the F-16 spare parts (and parts for the E/RF-E, C-130H, C-27J, T-6A/C aircraft and other aircraft subsystems of U.S. origin) is estimated at $160 million, the agency said in its notification to Congress.
The DSCA said the proposed sale will contribute to Greece's security by allowing it to keep its aircraft at the highest state of readiness.
The spares and subsystems would be procured from a variety of contractors that provide similar items to the U.S. military, DSCA said.
