TuAF F-16 bird strike documented
July 23, 2009 (by
Bjorn Claes) -
Last June, a Turkish Air Force F-16 (#89-0036) suffered a birdstrike at take-off. The aircraft was able to return safely to its base.
Upon take-off, the F-16 entered a flock of four pigeons. Two hit the aircraft near the left main gear landing door. No other damage occured. The F-16 was able to land safely. Evidently, the birds were less lucky after this minor mishap.
